Durrow/Abbeyleix Macra are hosting a scarecrow competition in conjunction with the annual Durrow Howya Festival. This event is in its second year and was so successful last year it even made it onto RTE’s Ear to the Ground. It will take place on Saturday the 16th of July in Dec’s Bar in Durrow Co. Laois and we would love if you could make it.
We would encourage your club to make a Scarecrow to enter the competition or even just to turn up on the night. We have music, food and great craic guaranteed. The scarecrows will be displayed in the village in Durrow and there is also the option to enter the Howya Festival Scarecrow competition. Applications will be available on the night.
If you would like to participate please declare your interest to me by phone or text. Please include a club contact name and phone number and the number of entries.
This is a fun evening and will give your club an opportunity to get to know neighbouring clubs and encourage new members. There is a prize on the night of €100 for the best scarecrow and a runner-up prize of €50. Entry is free.
